Plot Synopsis Explorer Levison Wood—known for walking the Nile, the Himalayas, and the Americas—is embarking on a new adventure in this four-part series: crossing the vast Caucasus Mountains between and. As a new part of the world, Levison is taking a new approach to exploration: carving your own path by any means necessary. Levison's epic 2,600-mile journey took him across five countries, through the wilds of Europe's tense border, and to visit some of the most fascinating and diverse people on Earth. Starting in the south, Levison will trace the mountain ranges toward Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, through increasingly dangerous terrain where militants hide, and into: a charming country that has been off the tourist trail for decades. Known as the "Middle Land," Levison will travel through these countries at the crossroads of two continents, forming a large part of the historic and mysterious Silk Road. Passing through snow-capped mountains, canyons and volcanic deserts, Levison will see some of the most spectacular yet little-known landscapes on Earth. Tracked by the secret police through forgotten war zones, he will encounter a series of unusual characters, from gold-toothed wolf hunters and reclusive monks to ISIS fighters and a gang of horsemen. As before, Lev filmed much of his expedition himself, capturing rare extraordinary and intimate moments on screen, resulting in the most original and authentic travel series on television.
