In Ireland in 1952, the social atmosphere was conservative. The young girl Philomena (Judi Dench) was sent to a monastery by her family to do hard labor because she was unmarried and pregnant. She only had one hour a day to spend time with her beloved son Anthony. When Anthony was 3 years old, he was forcibly taken away by nuns and sent to a foster family. For the next fifty years, Philomena was immersed in longing for her beloved son. She told the story to a reporter, Martin (Steve Coogan), who decided to embark on a journey to find her son with her. This pair of very different and seemingly impossible partners, between hope and loss, embark on an adventure that is not only a loving mother's search for her son, but also a testimony of friendship across the board. Philomena slowly learns about her son's extraordinary life and little-known secrets. Can her belated love be passed on to Anthony, who has been separated for many years? "Philomena" is adapted from the documentary literature "Philomena's Lost Child" by journalist Martin Sixsmith, and is based on real events. It revolves around a man who crosses the sea to find his son half a century later. The tragic story is wrapped in a comedy appearance, making people moved with laughter and tears. "Philomena" won the Venice Festival's Best Drama Award and the LG's highest honor, the Brokeback Lion Award. In addition, it also received 4 Oscar nominations including Best Picture.
