Synopsis:In the 1870s, a small village in northern Denmark was isolated. A pair of Christian Lutheran sisters Martina (Birgitte Federspiel) and Philippa (Bodil Kjer) live in seclusion. Under the guidance of a pastor, they do not hesitate to Sacrifice love and devote yourself wholeheartedly to your career. The two kind-hearted sisters took in a woman named Babette (played by Stéphane Dran) who came from Paris to escape the chaos. Babette, who has a mysterious life experience, turns out to be a famous restaurant chef. Babette was lucky enough to receive a huge bonus of 10,000 francs. In order to repay the kind-hearted sisters, Babette decided to personally cook on the anniversary of the two sisters' deaths and serve an authentic and sumptuous meal to the villagers. The film was adapted from the novel by Danish female writer Isaac Dinasson. It won the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 60th Academy Awards in 1988, the Humanitarian Award at the 40th Cannes Festival in 1987, and the 46th Academy Awards in 1987.
