Synopsis:In 1850, a murder occurred on a remote French island. A drunk fisherman (Emile Kusturica) committed the crime and was sentenced to death. However, the mountains here are high and the emperor is far away, so there are no execution tools such as guillotines, so the officials on the island asked the Ministry for help and asked them to transport the guillotine all the way. During this waiting time, the fraternity and kind-hearted captain's wife (Juliette Noche) believes that the fisherman is a good person. She has been tending the garden since she followed her husband to this deserted island. Now she lets the fisherman help her with gardening and other chores. The fisherman and the captain's wife performed charity together and were welcomed by the residents. The Captain (Daniel O'Deille played by Daniel Teuil) knew that the two were getting along well with each other and even fell in love, but out of selfless love for his wife, he just silently chose to make her happy. The child gradually passed, and the guillotine was finally delivered. The captain, the captain's wife and the fisherman also ushered in a turning point in their fate.
