Synopsis:The story is set in 2019 and will explore two questions: When does it not count, if your wife is not your wife? After a series of unexpected events puts Dothy 'Dot' Lyon (Juno Temple) in trouble with the authorities, the seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly thrust back into the life she thought she had left behind. North Dakota Sheriff Y Tillerman (Jon Hamm) has been looking for Dot for a long time. As a rancher, evangelist, and law enforcer, Y believed he was the law and therefore above it. On Y's side is his loyal but irresponsible son Gator (played by Joe Keery), who is eager to prove himself to the extraordinary. It's a pity that gator is beyond redemption. Therefore, in order to hunt down Dot, Y recruits Ole Munch (Sam Spruell), a wanderer with mysterious origins. As her deepest secrets begin to be revealed, Dot tries to protect her family from her own past, but her doting and well-meaning husband Wayne (Did Rysdahl) keeps turning to Lorraine Lyon (Jennifer Jason Leigh) for help. As the CEO of the largest debt collection agency, the debt queen was not happy with her son's choice of wife and did not miss any opportunity to express her disapproval. However, when Dot's unusual behavior comes to the attention of Minnesota State Police Officer Indira Olmstead (Cha Moorjani) and North Dakota State Police Officer Witt Farr (Lamorne Mors), Lorraine appoints her in-house legal counsel Danish Gres (De Foley) to help her daughter-in-law . After all, family is family. But dot has an incredible set of survival skills. Faced with the dilemma, she's about to show why one should never be outraged as she is.
