Synopsis:In May 1536, Anne Boleyn, Henry's second wife, and five of her associates died. As the ax falls, Thomas Cromwell emerges from the bloodshed to continue his ascent to power and wealth, while his formidable master, Henry, lives on with his third queen, Jane Seymour. A short happy life. Cromwell, a man with only his brains to rely on, no extended family to support him, and no private army. In this cruel and bloody era, Cromwell faced moral complications while exercising power. He was caught in a dilemma: doing the right thing on the one hand, and surviving on the other. But after Henry VIII executed his queen, no one was safe. While rebellions at home, plotters abroad, and threats of invasion push Henry to the brink, Cromwell's intense imagination sees a new nation in the mirror of the future. All England was at his feet, ripe for innovation and reform. But as fate turns, Cromwell's enemies are gathering in the shadows. The inevitable question remains: How long can anyone survive Henry's cruel and capricious gaze?
