Synopsis:After World War II, Rome, like many cities, was plagued by unemployment and poverty, and people often fought for a job opportunity. Richie (Lamberto Maggiorani), who has been unemployed for a long time, worked hard to get a job as a poster poster, but was worried that the job required a bicycle. In order to make his future life easier, he used his wife's dowry--the bed sheets he had exchanged for money. He lost his bicycle, but unexpectedly, his bicycle was stolen on his first day at work. Richie and his son Bruno (Enzo Staiola) searched the streets and alleys of Rome, but could not find the bicycle that he relied on to survive. Seeing that hopelessness was coming again, Richie decided to retaliate in kind, but his luck was not as good as other thieves.
