Synopsis:A young woman (Joan Fontaine) first meets Manderly's owner Derwent (Laurence Olivier) on the edge of a seaside cliff. She thought Derwent was going to jump into the sea and commit suicide, so she yelled, making Derwent very angry. However, the two met and their acquaintance experience made them fall in love and get married, and the woman became the mistress of Manderley Manor. A happy life was about to unfold, but the newlywed wife encountered a gloomy "cold wave". She found that the shadow of Derwent's ex-wife Rebecca could be seen everywhere in the manor. Her name left traces on the furniture, which made the newlywed wife even more uneasy. The housekeeper, Mrs. Danforth, could not forget Rebecca and was full of hatred for the new owner. Even her husband Devonte was unwilling to explain all this, as if he still had old feelings in his heart. Rebecca fills Manderley Hall like a nightmare, and things start to get more and more complicated.
