Synopsis:In the early 1990s, war was about to break out in the Middle East, and the famous "Desert Storm" was brewing. The 20-year-old young man Anthony Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) was born in a military family. His grandfather and uncle were heroes in history. Anthony has been influenced by it since he was a child, and he aspires to become a glorious soldier who will achieve great honors in the army. After countless brutal training, he was finally sent to the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Marine Expeditionary Brigade of the Marine Corps and officially committed to the Middle East. Anthony was complacent, but found that the cruelty of the war was far beyond his expectation. During this period, his hometown girlfriend was unfaithful and cheated on him, and fear, emptiness, and depression tortured his nerves all the time. The true meaning of the war made him fall into contemplation and contradiction... The film was adapted from the 2003 best-selling book by former Marine Anthony Swofford and won the 2005 San Diego Film Critics Association Special Award.
